Carol Gallagher

Dr. Carol Gallagher is the Managing Principal of the Alliance for Excellence, an international consulting firm specializing in creating and/ or transforming the psychology of organizations and their leaders. She works directly with CEOs, senior leaders and governing boards, enhancing individual, team and organizational effectiveness. since launching Alliance for Excellence in 2001, Carol has consulted across numerous industries, with an emphasis and passion for the financial and healthcare industries.
Carol has written the best-selling book Goin to the To depicting the critical success factors of executives, and what corporation can specifically do to retain top talented women. She has been recognized for her expertise and unprecedented research by Oprah, ABC, CBS, BC, and CBC. She has also been featured on PR, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, and other publications.
Prior to leading the Alliance for Excellence, Carol was Senior Principal of CG I-AMS, a $9 billion publicly traded technology corporation. She was the executive responsible for organizational transformation and change management as well as enjoyed hands on coaching of senior executives at client companies. Earlier, Carol was an IBM national accounts sales representative, responsible for selling mainframe computer systems to IBM's strategic accounts. She was consistently recognized for maintaining high customer satisfaction and developing strong client partnerships. (She even ran a marathon with one of her clients to do e a large mainframe contract.) Her dedication to understanding individual and group behavior eventually led to a career shift toward industrial/ organizational psychology.
Before IBM, Carol served as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs on Wall Street, where she performed risk analysis and evaluated profit and loss for international trading portfolios. She was the international liaison determining profit ratios in their London, Tokyo, Toronto, and ew York offices. Working on Wall Street, Carol became familiar with corporate investment strategies, gained a new appreciation for the complexities of managing a business, and developed her own capacity for managing stress by weathering the Stock Market Crash of '87.
At the beginning of her career, Carol was a management consultant with Accenture/Andersen Consulting in its London, New York City, and Dallas offices, where she integrated banking and brokerage clients' computer systems with their corporate objectives. While working with an international bank client, she successfully coordinated its trading, financial, and technology business units to enable them to begin seamlessly trading on the NYSE.
Carol has a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, now Alliant International University, where she served nine years on their Board of Trustees as an officer, member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the nominating Committee and Institutional advancement Committee. he was also on the Wyndham International Hotels and Resorts Advisory Board. Carol lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys playing with her two grandchildren, running, paddle boarding and traveling with family and friends.
